Homeschool Open House – Preschool Age

Homeschooling preschool students! Let’s do it.  Zero to four is nonstop learning, nonstop exploring, and their energy is at 150%. Preschool is the foundation for their learning journey so make it awesome. It’s exhausting…yet, absolutely beautiful.  😉

My homeschool journey began with preschool for our now nine and seven-year-old sons.  They have never been in a traditional school setting.  I created a learning environment for them that outperforms the alternatives.  I’m committed to providing a wholistic learning journey for my children and I hope my Open House will encourage you to do the same.

I hosted this Open House in April 2020 in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Our internet provider was having a little difficulty handling my household bandwidth with my husband working at home so I had a few glitches in the live recording. The content is still golden and it’s my favorite version. Grab a notepad, some popcorn, and enjoy!

Two suggestions as you prepare to homeschool preschool:

#1 Look for Limitless Learning

My 2-year-old was able to learn how to spell although he did not know how to write yet. My 4-year-old was able to learn multiplication. One of the beautiful benefits of homeschooling preschool is taking the limits off learning. My child has the ability to move past state milestones for preschoolers.  I used the Montessori approach.  Montessori is a child-centered learning approach with hands-on materials (called “work”).  Why should the mind be hindered?

#2 Go the Path of Peace

Homeschooling preschool requires extensive planning. The path of peace is found in your ability to flow with your child’s learning.  Yes, I structured our learning time (learning in the morning, lunch, nap, and structure play in the afternoon), but I learned in the first two months that I need to remain flexible to encourage a love for learning.  There were days when my preschooler would do everything I had planned and there are other days he would fall in love with a puzzle for thirty minutes.  Learning to be ok with both types of days was my path of peace.

I hope this blesses you big!  Enjoy and comment below if it was helpful.
