My Homeschool Curriculum 2015-2016

My homeschool curriculum choices are in and we are ready to go!  This is my second year of homeschooling, so I enjoyed having a baseline to make changes to.

When I select my curriculum, there are a number of factors I take into consideration:

  • What are my students strengths and areas of improvement?
  • What are the high performing private schools doing in North Carolina and California?
  • What are they doing in Japan and India?
  • What are the state standards +1 grade level (so for my 6th grader, I look at 7th grade)?
  • What are the needs in the current market?

I love love love this!!! SO inspiring!! I truly cannot get enough! I practiced the vowels song and used Starfall yesterday to help teach my son how to read and of course his vowels – he got it almost immediately! When he woke up this morning, I asked him, “What are your vowels”, he said, very fast “A-E-I-O-U!!” Too excited!! And then we went on Starfall again and he is recognizing words so fast! I know every child is different because I have a son who is a year younger and I see the differences between them, but I am grateful to know about the other tools out there, they ARE helpful! Thank you so much, Mel! As I am reading your testimony again, about laying it down for your child, I’m truly considering staying home again with my two or THE LEAST, being ALOT more involved again in their educational growth, as I have not been consistent….this is truly inspiring! Thank you!!
